Self Compassion in the Face of Disaster

Heritage Crossing is partnering with Colorado Spirit to bring our residents and families a COVID-19 six-part support series, Together We! Thrive. The first session of this 6-part series kicked off on January 26th with “Self-Compassion in the Face of Disaster,” with Dr. Kristin Pyne. She explains how to face your emotions with self-compassion, knowing that these emotional responses are normal responses to an abnormal time. Instead of toughing it out or criticizing yourself, self-compassion invites you to acknowledge the difficult time you are experiencing and calls you to comfort and care for yourself just as you would comfort and care for a close loved one. Click here to find the handout activity and worksheet associated with her session.

Together We Thrive will feature short video sessions and handouts offering professional and practical ways to support your whole well-being, so that we can find healthy ways to cope with our stress. Videos will be released on Facebook bi-monthly on Tuesdays, see the full schedule here.
